3. Alkyd Coating

Common applications:
Machinery, gates, railings, metal furniture and general industrial equipment.

Alkyd coatings are suitable for mild to moderate environments, but are not normally recommended for heavy chemical or severe corrosion exposure.
 

4. Zinc-Rich Coating

Zinc-rich coatings are mainly used to protect steel from corrosion.

The zinc provides sacrificial protection, helping protect the steel even when small areas of the coating are damaged.

• Suitable for heavy-duty coating systems

Common applications:

5. Zinc Phosphate Epoxy Primer

Zinc phosphate epoxy primers are commonly used as anti-corrosive primers for steel.

Some acrylic polyurethane systems can also be used as direct-to-metal coatings.
 

7. Chlorinated Rubber Coating

Chlorinated rubber coatings provide good resistance to water, moisture and certain chemicals.

Common applications:
Marine areas, tanks, swimming pools and industrial facilities.

Its suitability should always be checked according to the actual chemical and environmental exposure.



 

How to Choose the Right Protective Coating

Before choosing a coating, consider:

• Substrate – steel, aluminium, concrete or plastic

• Environment – indoor, outdoor, coastal or industrial

• Corrosion level

• Chemical exposure

• UV and weather exposure

• Required appearance

• Expected service life

• Budget

Surface preparation is also very important. Even a good coating can fail if the surface is rusty, dirty or poorly prepared.
 

A Complete Coating System

Protective coating performance often depends on the whole system, not only the topcoat.

A typical system may be:

Primer → Intermediate Coat → Topcoat

For example:

Epoxy Zinc Phosphate Primer → High-Build Epoxy → Polyurethane Topcoat

The primer provides adhesion and corrosion protection, the intermediate coat adds thickness and barrier protection, while the topcoat improves weather resistance and appearance.
